VSD and Soft start starters

Soft start starters are used where you have a specific need for a start cycle time, one of the major reasons is to limit the current as the supply line is not capable of handling full start up loads therefore this can be a cheaper option then upgrading supply lines.
VSD starters can do the above but they also have the capacity to run your motor and pump unit at variable speeds to suit the amount of output at the pump as needed. In some situations it is used to save electricity costs and also can be used to bring in other pumps on-line as the usage increases, many town water suppliers now use multiple pumps to meet the peek demand and only run minimum pumps when demand is low.

Pumptec

What is Pumptec?

Pumptec is a smart device for  pump protection device that continuously monitors motor load and power line conditions to provide protection against dry well conditions, waterlogged tanks, and abnormal line voltage conditions.
Indicator lights provide complete system status, which can be easily viewed without removing the cover. Pumptec interrupts power to the motor whenever the motor load drops below a preset level or the load drops quickly.
Pumptec is optimized to work with Franklin 2 & 3-wire single phase motors from 0.37 to 1.1 kW. An under load (dry well) adjustment is provided to address unusual situations.

Using state-of-the-art technology, the Sub Monitor provides the ultimate protection for a pump and motor. There’s water in my cable.

EPR is the only cable you should be putting down into your bore as this is made with rubber over rubber as the  outside protection, this will not let any water into the copper cable. Giving you and your motor the best protection. Normal PVC wire or orange circular as used in housing and construction will allow water to enter over a period of time, and we have seen on many occasions damage to the motor or starter, so only use EPR for your best protection.

To improve the life and performance of submersible pump systems DEPS has developed a unique PVC rising main using Australian made UPVC pipe and manufacturing this into a product that can be used for pumping systems that are corrosive or aggressive on the life of steel components.

 This systems offers you a greater efficiency thus lowering  head loss and a longer life as PVC is resistant to corrosive properties.

 Oxide build up is reduced as the rising main is flush and smooth on the inside.

Flexibore Rising Main

  Flexibore rising mains has been specifically designed to replace rigid riser pipes made from steel and PVC, which due to their rigidity, are generally heavier and hard to handle. Steel pipes suffer from rust and encrustation’s and also have to contend with internal scaling. Over time this seriously reduces flow rates and pump efficiency. Other risers made from PVC can be brittle or bend. It is fantastic when used in bore testing situations.

Flexibore has been approved for Potable water receiving a AS4020 approval.

Advantages of Flexibore over rigid rising mains:
  • Keeps transportation costs down because it can be compactly stored in transit to site

They have specific holes in this plate for your electric cable and safety cable to come out of the bore, thus sealing the bore so foreign material cannot fall into your bore.

Safety Cable

Stainless safety cable is used in case there is a unforeseen  chance that a problem occurs with the rising main or pump, so by using a safety cable you can winch the pump back to the surface instead of fishing it out from the bottom.
Be sure to match the size of cable to the pumps weight.

Pump shroud

PVC shrouds are needed to keep the water velocity over the motor  at the correct limit to ensure the submersible motor is running  within the correct temperature specifications. They are designed to join to a length of PVC pipe that will fit over the motor and fit into the bore.
