Is your PVC Pipe meeting AS1477

Hi its Brooke from Deps here.

Today I would like to share with you 3 important things that could make or break your up coming project and as we all know delays in pipe manufacturing, delays in delivery to site can cost tens of thousands of dollars that’s what we want to avoid here.  So my top 3 tips for you before you begin your project Is to investigate, investigate and research were your pipe comes from and how and were it is manufactured.

Here at Deps we pride ourselves on 3 things and this is a question we ask all our customers who are buying pipe from elsewhere, we like them to be informed of what they are purchasing.

Does your pipe meet As1477 standard this is an Australia standard of pipe manufacturing.
Lots of manufacturers in Australian create quality products and quality pipe but over recent years we have found there to be an influx of imported pipe.
This pipe is manufactured overseas, we are unaware of the standards it is manufactured too and we don’t know its capabilities, Australia has very tough underground terrain that we need to be aware of so we need quality pipe going under ground. Australian manufacturers are aware of this and manufacture there pie to meet these standards, they re always continuing to grow there product range and improve on there quality when ever any issues come up, imported pipe has no standards it is not tested when it comes into Australia and you don’t know how it has been manufactured or where it is coming from. And if its coming from Australia your always guaranteed where it has come from.

* How can you tell if your pipe is imported.
There are some key components on every piece of pipe that is put in the ground there should be a stamp on it, with the manufacturer, the standard that it meets and the time and date it was manufactured this wont be on the imported pipe there will be none of this, so times there will be a discolouration in colour, standard PVC pipe is a sharp white, a lot of your imported pipe can be an off white colour, when you purchase pipe your manufacturer should be able to supply you with a certification certificate this certification certificate will be an Australian standard AS1477 and if they cant provide you with this then the pipe is not Australian made

Your client may require a special slot pattern so this is my second tip.

A lot of imported pipe cannot be slotted that’s not to say it all cant be, we have come across some that can be slotted when it gets to Australia, but 9 times out of 10 when you get your pipe from Australia you can slot it you can thread it to what ever pattern you like…….. (to be continued)

Why Do we do Something?

Why do we do something ?

Like, why do we play sport ?

Why do we get married ?

Why do we by that type of car ?

Why do we take up that hobby ?

and…

Why do we deal with that company or supplier ?
Simon Sinek has spent his lifetime looking at these questions and has
come up with the answer and part of this answer is the Golden Circle.

In this circle there are three smaller circles the outside being “What” the
middle circle “How” and the main inner circle you would know as the
Bulls eye is “Why”
Let me explain…

Say we join a wood working club, “What” does the club do?
It supplies machines, tools and education for its members, plus it supplies
wooden toys to under privileged kids.
“How” does it do this ? – By paying a membership and receiving donations.
The club has premises where members come together and use the machines and
wood supplied to manufacture the toys for the kids.
And those who are not expertise in a certain area will receive help from a member
who is.

This is a great cause !
Now the million dollar question and for those who already do something similar and
help charities “Why” do you do this?
Or another question, “Why do you deal with Deps” ?

There are other suppliers out there so why ring us when you need Drilling supplies,
casing, screens or slotted pipe?
I would like you to think about this for a while and I will put some ideas to you next week or
better yet send me some thoughts.

Where has the year gone?

Where has the year gone ?

I can easily remember having my last mouthful of Christmas pudding and
wow I have been put into a time capsule and it’s now a new financial year.

I wish everyone a successful year and wish for you and your company to grow.

I was having a planning meeting many years ago with my old Accountant, he stated
to me that you have two choices, (let’s say you have $20K profit).

  1. To buy a car or equipment  so  you have  no profit, therefore you pay no tax, – I know this
    makes  some people very happy because people hate paying the government money;
  2. Keep the profit and pay the tax,  let’s say approx $7k.  This leaves you with $14k to do what
you like with when you like.

It’s your choice no money in the bank and pay no tax.

Or…

Pay tax and you have some money.  It’s that simple he said.

What did I do?

I did a 50/50, purchased a older car and paid some tax so I had some left in the bank.

To help you start profitable this financial year I have made a list of Pipe items that have
been on my shelf too long.

So I thought, why not pass you on these savings to you allowing you to make more profit.

It may not be your company but I know that it’s a lot better to be working for a very profitable
company, so help yours out and see if any of these items you can use.

“Gees, I bet the Jockey was a bit….”

Here we are glorifying a horse that has won 22 races in a row and
to make it even better she won at Royal Ascot.

The world watched the race with excitement but I reckon Luke Nolan
the jock.ey was just a bit .. in last 50 metres, don’t you.

Did you know the owners paid $220k for her.

One of the 8 partners owns 50% and the others share the other 50%.

One owner only  paid $28k to have her share.

This ad.venture came about as a group of friends were having a
holi-day on a house boat, sitting around the table and after a couple of
drinks the subject came up that it would be fun to buy a race horse together.

“It wouldn’t cost much and who knows; we could make some money.”

The decision was made and a max of $110k was to be spent on a horse.

The Partner who went to the sales, liked the horse but at Auction it went
higher than they wanted to pay, so he forked out the extra and everyone else
paid what they had agreed to spend.

Now the rest is history.

How do I know that…

Well…

I have been friends with two of the partners for most of my life.

I can tell you they are all very excited about this and especially
meeting the Queen.

They say “This has changed our life’s and given us an experience
that we never thought possible.” they told me.

Amazing as all they wanted was a bit of fun.

This really shows what can happen when you step out of your
standard life and have a go at living one of your dreams.

Not everyone will meet the Queen, but it’s not about everyone.

I have a little bit in common with Black Caviar.

Next year will be our 20th year in a row of being in business.

Yes DEPS will be 20 years old.

We hope you will be part of our celebrations

Have a great weekend.

Best Wishes

RDA Blog

I have been helping at RDA for the last 12 months, helping disabled
children have a better life by riding a horse, making it a better day for them.

And…

putting a smile back on their face.

But I always thought it was Riding For The Disabled, but…

no Dumb me it stands for “ Riding Develops Abilities”

and it does !

Kids who can hardly walk gain mobility by riding a horse.

There’s a great poem that explains this click here for link:

www.victorlittle.me/isawachildpoem.pdf

But first I need to ask you for a favour on behalf of the RDA at Officer, Victoria.

Two of the horses have to be retired in the next couple of months due to their
age…would you believe the horses are nearly 28 and over.

Therefore 2 new horses need to be purchased as well as saddles etc for them
both.

Money needs to be raised for this or we have to cancel the childrens wonderful experience.

If you can see yourself or your business making a donation it would be greatly appreciated.

We will be donating $500 towards this ourselves.

If you can help I will arrange details of payment for you.

Please contact me if you is wish to help.

Thanks for your support

Best Wishes
